Welcoming June 2019 Y’all!

These beautiful flowers were given to us as a parting gift from a visiting neighbor when she left to return to Florida 🙂

We have windows open for the first time since early in May and it is soooo invigorating to feel the fresh air moving through the house AND the birds singing their late spring songs 😀
Another neighbor is brave about snakes that live in this region and braved the garden to harvest our returning strawberries and then was kind enough to share a bit of his bounty… so I have been enjoying early morning strawberries with a bit of whipped cream on them too… no sugar needed they are naturally sweet!
You can see roses from the never ending giving bush of roses outside our bedroom window my honey harvested for me when he trimmed off the dead blooms to get fresh ones a place to sprout out… and I finished and washed and we are actively using the table runner as a table runner and a place mat built for 2!!!  We love it 😀
My favorite Bonnie-ism lately…
Remember this on the tough days friends 😀  Life is short… savor every moment and the best is yet to come >>> STAY EXCITED!!!
I made this collage this Friday 🙂
I have this completed now…
And have just this little bit to go before I am ready to add the label and the binding to this quilt …
YAAAAY!
Linking this most awesome progress to Kathy’s Slow Sunday Stitching HERE <<<  Kathy celebrates 7 years of linky party happiness this month 😀  Congrats to her!
Also linking to Wendy’s Peacock Party HERE <<< She has a chocked full post and a great tutorial shown on the following day's post too… talking about on point layout and design!
I will not show Elliana’s quilt again until it has been gifted for several reasons so just enjoy these photos and be ready for a fun reveal in a couple weeks!
I mentioned labeling her quilt…  HERE are some fun label ideas too!
I will be using THIS pen…

And making a label like this…

the pen I am using writes heavier and stays better wash after wash and dry after dry than the pen used in the photo above… I am very pleased with it… you may can find it local but you can also find it via Amazon 🙂
I will border with a bit of ribbon for a bit of whimsy across that diagonal top edge to avoid showing stitches… although with the ladder stitch it doesn’t show but this will be more durable I think too!
Next up I will be making a bag for my daughter…

And a PAIR of these pillow shams I am designing this week …

once the quilt is in the binding / labeling / completing for gifting process 😀
The pillow shams will coordinate with this quilt I hand quilted for my daughter’s high school graduation a few years ago… but she left high school to experience life.
So I finished Star Light ~ Star Bright quilt before we left Florida.  I washed it and have used it on the guest bed as a “carrot” for her … she would get it when she completed her high school education or got her GED.
Well folks!!!!  SHE GOT HER GED >>>>> FRIDAY!!!!! YAY !!!!
She doesn’t want it mailed… she is coming for a visit soon… so she will get it then… I am giddy for her to receive it and the pillow shams are for all her hard work and perseverance in the “growing up” department… she is really getting the hand of adulting now 😀 lol!
Inspiration for the pillow sham design came for the left antique quilt … and the right similar basket design as well since it has a video to show how to put it together on point… however none are the size I need them to be… so I will use graph paper and Math Skills and make my own design for her and her boyfriend (who loves my handmade things)… we also have pillows for the pillow shams so they will be set!!!
Molly likes to lay on her “house” which is a crate where she stays when we leave and at night when we all sleep… we cover it with that quilt I made many moons ago with learning piecing skills and stitching skills… and as of late she has learned this is a comfy spot to chill and watch me quilt!

She loves it and doesn’t hurt it so all is good 😀  Isn’t she cute up there watching me quilt !

So for now I will let you go check out the links I left you in this post… but please take a moment to appreciate your life… it is worth your time !

Playing Catch up ~ A New Quilt is in the Frame!!

I missed blogging last week because my best girlfriend came for a quick visit…

Connie lives about 4 hours from me and because her life is so busy.. she had not yet been to our home!!  She visited at least once a year when we lived near the beach but not since we moved to the mountains… so she left us with this souvenir shot of her visit on an old oak tree 🙂

While she was here she worked on some hand quilting… while I finished up the stitching on this purse for our friend Debbie!

Molly is watching out for me as I stitched it all together too! lol

And here is the finish…

It was Priority mailed this past week and already received and put into use!!

Also Connie brought gifts when she came including this cool quilt hanger that my honey installed in our kitchen…

She also left us some apple juice bottles that are glass and she uses the leftover glass bottles for flower vases… well we loved that idea!!!  So my honey went into our yard and made me a vase for the computer area…

And once I got my quilt loaded in the frame … He also filled another vase with more flowers when I napped one day!!! 🙂

Here he is suprising me with flowers on a day I didn’t feel so good…

And here they are posed from the opposite side of the jar on the quilt I am working on intermittently 😀

And last night it was to freeze here… so this was the last of the flowers from our yard … so I wanted to share their delightfulness with you all!!!

Molly is now officially 4 months old !!!

And after celebrating her birthday with a nice bath!!!  We prepped our guest room for Connie’s soon arrival… I love this quilt but soon I think it will be time to wash it one last time and send it to it’s destiny… to be with my darling daughter (dd) Brandi ….

She chose this quilt top and the quilting plan and colors … I just did the work! lol

Once I finished the bag for Debbie… while Connie was here I started prepping the Rooster EPP project …

And even got out the organizer I had bought for this project too…

Pulled fabrics from my stash… and that pin cushion on the neutral fabric on the left… a gift from Connie too!

Glued the templates to the fabric as the directions called for using scrapbooking adhesive I had in my stash 😀

Soon my pattern had MY colors in place of the makers colors… so it will match the vibe in our home…

Here is a close up of that sweet hexi pin cushion Connie gifted me too …

And long after Connie was gone back to her home and her crazy busy life… I finally got it all organized!!!

Now to find the time to work on it some more… time to glue baste down all the edges with my Fons and Porter fabric glue sticks.

I removed the doggy themed border fabric and not jiving cornerstones and made this more civil war looking with remaining fabric left from Roberta’s quilt finish….

Daisy’s Stars is now “Stars Among Us”  Tutorial to the scrappy star blocks is on my blog HERE.  It is truly more of a memory quilt we will use on the foot of our bed in honor of her… as none of this coordinates with Connie’s decor! lol

I chose these stencils … both I have never used before… for this quilt…

The left for the border and the right for the body of the quilt where the stars are 🙂

With batting and backing already pulled long ago for this quilt loading went quick…  First was the backing to put on the 2nd rail and the bottom rail… winding it twice to make sure all was straight…

Then the top and batting were added first to the top rail and rolled on (twice as well) …

Until they were going on straight and even…

Then pinned to the backing at the bottom rail and tighted all up….

Now I am ready to mark and begin quilting once I baste the bottom edge!!!

Molly is my steady companion when I quilt… she tries to squeeze her growing body in this little box… so I traded it out for a larger box but she teethes on everything right now.. so don’t know how long that will last !!! lol

Soon the bottom border was all stitched in place…

And I am now making great headway on the slow stitching of this crazy triangle pattern from my stencil!!!

Here is my set up.. early each morning I bring in the day slow stitching…

And here is how I am marking these designs.. with pounce chalk and with a piece of pink chalk in a marking tool…

I am linking this fun slow stitching … where I will be today and every day… with Kathy’s Slow Stitching Squad of hand work specialists HERE!  Come see what others are doing following the link and if you blog come join the party too ❤

This week Bonnie Hunter posted this Bonnie-ism…

And I received all this wonderful fabric in fat quarter form…

Then I organized it with some in my stash like this…

And checked value like this (Batman is for sale and was just a quiet space to rest your eyes between the colors at the top and those same fabrics in value only in black and white at the bottom! lol

All in hopes of making 16 big 14″ blocks of log cabin bear paw blocks like this…

So this weekend I cut out the log cabin blocks in medium and light with red centers to keep the home warm 🙂

And here is a close up of my piecing plan per bear paw block… with the first 4 log cabins pieced on Gloria the Glorious 301a!

Here was my inspiration block found on Pinterest and shared there by the Stashing Sisters…

If you are into log cabins…mine are not quite as intense as theirs… but I think it will work!!! lol

In closing this long post… I want to reward you with a glimpse of the Valley Eagle!!!  A bald eagle that lives in this area but we had never seen him… until the day before we got these photos and this day too…

Here is my dd… now in Kentucky with some of her tribe.  We have a growing friendship now that she is grown up…she is in the center with Jasper the 6  year old sitting on her back! lol

So until my next post … NEXT SUNDAY!!!!  Have a blessed week and…

Slow Sunday Stitching and Photo Challenge… Yippee!

I am sooo excited is is FINALLY Sunday y’all!

Time to head over to Kathy’s Quilts HERE and see what this photo challenge and slow stitching is all about!!!  Here is my camera!  An iPhone 6 I have had for over 2 years 😀

It is part of a wristlet style wallet that is my go everywhere hold-it-all wallet that I slide out of that outer protective case when at home and snap shots like all the ones below!

Here is the goal of today’s shooting… my hoop is a 17″ plastic hoop with a ridge around the center that makes it hold the quilt in it quite nicely… in it is a wall hanging called Homespun Wall Hanging that is my travel project and aside from the quilt I am working on … is my now longest waiting to be worked on UFO in the house… It was made up for me over 3 years ago I think by my best friend… then I added borders a couple years ago and layered it up with excitement to start and finish it quick.
Then it sat waiting for it’s turn since I don’t sit in the recliner it sat next to anymore due to my arthritic knees needing replacement.  I sit in this chair and have this view instead! lol

See the hoop to the left…
It has now been made my travel project for when we make trips north of here looking for a new home… we have our home up for sale presently and every now and then we will be making trips north in search of more seasons and less hurricane weather!  So whilst I wait to find the right time to spend with that one… I am working on my oldest UFO in a PVC frame my honey made me before I got the big wood Hinterberg frame that has now been disassembled and packed for this upcoming move!

Here is the quilt I shared last week… sitting out to be enjoyed before I stuff it in a cotton pillowcase and pack it for our move….

Now I am working on a colorful wholecloth I have had pin basted and worked on in that hoop for a time now I am putting it in the PVC frame for a faster finish as I can work on a larger area at a time and my arthritis and frame quilting gets along better ! lol

Here are the colors of thread going into this project…

The pink sewing machine charm is actually a needle minder given to my by my good friend Debbie one year in the past… I LOVE IT!  I never knew such a device existed but it is just a heavy duty magnet on each side of the quilt that attract to each other to hold them together topped with a charm of your preference… this one reminds me of the giver too!

See how nicely it holds my needle spot for me 😀

Above is a shot of my frame when I am stitching watching “When Calls the Heart” on Netflix… such a sweet show in this day and age of so much crazy stuff on the television channels… this one is one you can share with young viewers or enjoy by yourself… I enjoy it by myself 😀

And below is a close up of the hand quilting I imagined and completed whilst watching this series on Netflix….

Here is a shot of where I am this morning… almost ready to move the quilt in the frame!!!

I wish you could feel the texture all this quilting makes on this quilt!!!  It’s legal name is Garden Bouquet Whole Cloth Quilt… and it is quilt sized… I did change the edges you will see by next week to be scalloped.  I will have to make bias binding for this one because of that!!!  But that is a ways off still.. about 1/3 done with this one so far working out from the center that is completely finished.

And here is a series of 3 shots of close ups of my hand quilting for you to enjoy!

While featherweight 221’s have been taking a back seat to our home selling focus lately… we found one local on Craigslist and are in the midst of parting out right now as it was in poor cosmetic shape but so nice to find an older (1936) featherweight to spend time with that was working too!!!

So take some time and visit around at Kathy’s… and take some slow stitches today whether it be quilting or some other way of getting needle and fabric together… share what you are up to at Kathy’s with a pic to join in her Photo Challenge… or just leave me a comment about what YOU are up to!!

Remember most of all though to …

Another UFO completed!!!!

I can’t believe I am chatting with you 2 weeks in a row with yet ANOTHER finish to share 😀

The newlyweds are LOVING their quilt and sleeping under it on their bed… no pics yet but I am fine with that as it is being loved and slept under 💑

And while I am very excited to share my finish… I really wanna share this photo!!!

Look what the Color Catcher’s caught 😀

And look how beautiful and unstained the finish quilt is…

None of this quilt was pre-washed as I bought the top my daughter found already made from an eBay seller…

From the above pic it is 90″ x  90″.  She then picked out the pattern I would use to stipple in black thread on the white background from one of the online stencil companies and helped me decide on a pattern for all those carpenter star blocks… the outer border has a simple “s” design we both liked in red big stitch… and the binding is something fun and snazzy she liked!  She named it Starlight Starbright during the quilt designing process 😀

This quilt was meant to be her graduation from high school quilt… yet she has yet to graduate from high school.  She has chosen a different path right now and has quit school to work and pursue other interests… so I will be holding on to this quilt until her life settles down a bit I think 🙂

This quilt was purchased about this time of year in 2016 when I look back in my blog archives for a history moment.

It was officially started on my February 24, 2016 in a hoop…

Soon after this was started I realized it was gonna be an arduous journey this way so my honey built the PVC quilting frame for me from 1″ pvc and his own ingenuity to my specifications ❤

Here is a pic I took once this quilt came out of it…

It was surely dusty from being in this frame for 2 years with only small movements to reposition it for quilting… when I took it out to bind it dust flew everywhere!!!  lol

BTW… my previously cut binding???  Well I had just this 5″ piece left!!!  WOW that was close 😀

Then to wash it I also wanted to remove all the markings… mostly pencil markings on the white fabric… I really didn’t want to scrub with a toothbrush on it with Palmolive dish soap which is my secret weapon to remove even a stubborn prewashed pencil marking… so I washed in cold water with detergent… then when that didn’t remove the pencil I washed again with detergent and 2 tablespoons of Palmolive in my front loading washing machine and left soaking once it was good and wet overnight (about 4 hours honestly )… then checked it and all the pencil appeared to be gone… I washed it on warm with no extra soap just what was in it and as you can see in the pics… it is all GREAT!!!!  No pencil marks found by my meticulous eye at all!!!!

Above you can see the pencil marks in the white that I made… pretty heavy handed I got !  Then had to remark most of that as it wasn’t very good for stitching really …

So I have learned A LOT with this quilt.. and I am happy to call it done… I have a 100% cotton pillowcase this quilt will be calling home until we get moved… then I will display it occasionally and change it’s folding pattern occasionally as recommended… until the time my daughter is ready to receive this gift of love!

While working on this I have also started drafting a future quilt pattern as the pattern comes in 70″ square size and I want it 105″ square size…

And another UFO has shown itself on my PVC frame…

The colorful whole cloth quilt I am making… look at the fun backing I added… it is a wide back… I started this some time long ago and am happy to be calling this one my current project.. maybe til summer???  Not sure how long it will take… I am only about 1/4 or 1/3 done with the quilting on it.

So that is all that is keeping me busy and out of trouble… how about you?!   What are you doing to keep your hands and mind busy this year??

Thanks for visiting with me … I hope I have left you inspired to pick up a new project or return to an older project and finish it up!  Linking all this to Kathy’s Slow Stitching Sunday HERE… she has the flu so come cheer her up !!!  And she has a new idea to share for 2018 linkers too 😀

In closing here is a large view of the quilt itself for your enjoyment…

Have a blessed Sunday whatever you do… try to spend a bit of time doing something fun with your hands too … but most importantly ….

Resetting for 2018!

It was just a few days into 2018 that I finished that great big quilt that was on my frame… well it has been washed a couple times and checked for any issues then dried and gifted!!!

My son and DIL loved it sooo much they put it right on their bed my son built for them!!!

So now it is time to start on something new… or should I work on a UFO to free my pvc frame I haven’t used in over a year or more!!! lol

Well I have decided 2018… while we are waiting for the right buyer to come along to buy our home… will be a good year to work on UFO’s too… once this quilt is complete… Binding IS cut and ready to sew together and attach… I will work on my colorful wholecloth quilt that hasn’t seen light in a couple of years!!! Wow!!!  This will be earth shattering for me to finish both of these UFO’s… and I will I think because I am ready to face this challenge in my life.  Here is a quote from Bonnie Hunter that is quite fitting for me right now…

I can look at this as a goal as well as a focal point for where I am in life 🙂  Can you??

So as I make slow but sure progress on this Starlight Starbright quilt meant to be for my daughter some day…

And I also make slow but sure progess on these Kaleidoscope Krazy blocks… need 132… have 26 hahaha!

I am pondering my next quilt to piece… for our bed that my honey has helped me choose the colors on and my bestie will help me fulfill those requests…  I also wonder…
What are you all up to??  What are your plans as we are biting into 2018???

Are you living the life you love right now??  I certainly hope you can look back on decisions you are making and life you are living and be happy with yourself and your decisions 😀

So until my next post…

Linking this very hand work happy post to Kathy’s Slow Stitching Sunday linky party HERE

Come wish her sickness to go away soon and see what other hand focused people are making and doing this fine new year!!!

Happy Sunday Catch Up!

Happy Sunday Y’all!

Hoping your day is Peaceful like this cool ocean shot 🙂
We have had a very busy week here at Casa Del Loro…
But first I want to share progress on my hand quilting of Starlight… Starbright…

I am finally on the last block of the queen sized quilt and so happy about that!!!

Linking this progress to Kathy’s Quilts Sunday Linky Party HERE <<<

Yesterday I got the left side remarked…

I am using a Mark-B-Gone water soluble pen for this… I don’t like the fine point but love the regular tip size available at my local Walmart now that they have started selling fabric and notions again!!!

I had initially marked with the stencil and a mechanical pencil… but several areas require remarking now for more continuity in the stippled stars and moons… so I am doing that free hand in blue 🙂

Most of my time this week has gotten eaten up with redefining our living room space at Casa Del Loro!!!  Kathy talks about your view while stitching.. well this will be my view when this quilt is finished… it was NOT zen at all… but now it is!!!!

We got rid of the chair and ottoman and the sleeper sofa we had (all heavy big furniture that crowded our space)… and now we have a much cooler looking recliner set we found in very nice condition on our local Craigslist… and it is sooo roomy now!

Here is a collage I made of our sweet Daisy in my honey’s recliner peeking over the edge…

Then yesterday I found this on our local swap/shop Facebook group for only cheap!!!!

I love the scene that is painted on this real glass and wood window.. .it measures 32″ x 32″  🙂

Here is a view a bit further back…

I will enjoy daydreaming at this window once I start working on the quilt below it.  Our living room has very few windows but 2 nice skylights that let in light .. so I thought this would be a fun way to add some nature to a fairly closed in room !

I also splurged and got a pedicure this week with fall colored nails!!!

Initially I felt guilty .. but I have very bad arthritis in my feet and legs and the massaging they do was heavenly for sure!

Today I plan to slow stitch away on Starlight… and be happy I have a few true friends in my life too!

How many true friends are you lucky enough to have?  I can tell you at 50 years young… I feel a true friend is very hard to come by and very LUCKY to have!

Have a blessed week y’all! And make sure to let those you trust know it!  I encourage you to take time to …

Whooping it up on a Friday!!! ;)

I am very happy to see Friday roll around this week..

it has been a wonderful (but long) week around here! lol

First I want to wish you each a happy change of Season!  My Australian & New Zealand friends are welcoming Spring… and above the equator we are heralding in Fall… with warm weather in most of the US still!!!

So with fans going I have been stitching on Starlight… Starbright.  I want to link this progress and all my Friday Whoops below to Sarah’s Confessions of a Fabric Addict blog linky HERE >> Come see what other quilty fun is being whooped about over there!

So sometime beginning of this month I started Block 8 of this queen sized quilt for my daughter to be gifted when she graduates high school in the spring…

And because this week has been a bit stressful and I have been hopped up on steroids to get rid of some bronchitis… I have been quilting and watching Netflix on my honey’s iPad!!!!

Above you can see where I have had to remark most all of the stippling… I am using a blue water based marker that just spritzes away when the stitching in that section is complete 🙂

And below you can see that area is now complete and I am moving on to the right of the pic working on some straight lines in the wheel part…

We shall see how quickly I can progress on this today… I finally will be decreasing my dose of steroids today but doubt my high energy level they leave as a result will wan until tomorrow or later… so I will harness this energy for ironing a bit and hand quilting A LOT!!! lol

While on the subject of hand quilting… check out these 2 beautiful quilts by my best friend Wendy!!!

Here is Anniversary Blooms… her design from drunkards path beginnings… with gorgeous fabrics too!

…. and Lollipop Drops.. a more modern quilt and all hand quilted as well!!!  Totally her design here using a Creative Grids specialty shape ruler 🙂

She has entered these quilts in Amy’s Quilters Blog Festival this season!!!

Viewers favorites are currently being voted on… Please take a minute to follow THIS LINK to her blog post that will open in a new window and will explain how to vote either or BOTH of these quilts as your fave quilt shown… you get 3 choices!!! and there are many quilts to choose from… go take a gander if you would!  Wendy would appreciate your votes too as would I !!

My Nanny turned 98 years young yesterday too y’all!!!  I am sooo glad to still have her around !!

She lives with one of her daughters and has had a very full life already… I had chatted with her just the previous week… she was concerned that her life was going on so long when she feels useless… yet she gave me lots of great advice (as she always does!)… so I plan to call her again next week and see how her celebration went when she has relaxed some from all the parties the family has planned for her.  My grandfather died many years ago of cancer… she never remarried and has had a very full life… please pray (if you do) that she will find value in her days/weeks/months/years remaining!!!  Thanks y’all!!

Also I got a photo sent to me by my son James!

He is almost 26 now!!  He had a tooth break off and this big grin ( really a big grin for him!!! lol) is because thanks to his local dentist he has great teeth now 😀  Yippee!!!

His daughter, Kaydence is also walking and getting chatty now at almost 16 month old… hoping to make a roadtrip to see them in late spring next year… but will have to see how things work out.. she recently had to get tubes put in her ears for recurring infections… and made it though with flying colors they said 🙂  Whoop!!!

So as we all take turns Whooping it up today… let us remember…

How do you score in this area?  I know I have room to improve my internal thoughts that form how I save memories and what memories are saved!!!

My hope is that each will take a little time over this weekend to…

Just quilting away here! Starlight… Starbright update and MORE!

Welcome to my blog y’all!  I am so happy to be linking today’s post to Kathy’s Quilts… she is chatting about forest bathing and is doing the cutest little stitchery… check it out HERE!

Well best I can recall from a couple posts ago… I started block #8 of this quilt on September 5 or before… and I am now nearing the end of this block !!!  Take a look 🙂

I am so excited that I am able to focus and quilt so much on this quilt currently!  Just one more move in the frame to see the end of the wheel 🙂   I am recovering from a bout of bronchitis so stitching and reading are the main focuses in my time!

Here is a closer up of the right lower section I am focused on presently…

Funny Fact:  When I started this quilt I loved the straight line quilting… now that I am comfortable with how to make the stars and moon stippling though… that has become my favorite to stitch!!!!  lol

This quilt was not a project I should have taken on earlier in my quilting career either though… It was bought as a top already machine pieced… they did a better job than I could have done and most points match well… but the fabrics (only 3 fabrics used to make this queen sized quilt) are all different densities of weave… so sometimes I can make my thread knot 3 loops… sometimes I need 4 to catch the batting and fabric well though… so I have learned a lot of in depth things about myself and quilting while doing this quilt!!!

Isn’t quilting fun like that though when you have a project that challenges you??!!!

Also, on a facebook group I am in someone asked for how do you store your stash… so I made a collage to share there and thought you may enjoy seeing my Fabric Chest too!

My fabric chest is a cabinet we bought unmade from a big box hardware store .. thinking Lowe’s but could have been Home Depot too!  Anyway it was a closet for a room that was designed as a dining room so no closet was there… when that son who used it moved out he left it .. so I inherited this gem and my honey made shelves of plywood and boards from luan thin wood that I could wrap my stash and still see it all…

The pic above is not my whole stash really… but it is organized and ready to go there… I pull from it frequently and I have boards in projects I am working on too! hahaha!

How do you store your stash of fabric??

Also this month we are just about done with our guest bath renovation… here is a teaser photo I made…

If you are interested in seeing more shots of this cool bathroom redo… just follow THIS link to easily view that post in a separate window 🙂

Our next home reno focus is redoing a very abused bedroom… it was my sweet daughter’s room and now she has been moved out 2 months … so once we saw the repairs it needed we totally have it cleaned out now… and ready to donate and sell all she left behind saying she wasn’t interested in anything left.  She does have a very cool shelf she and my honey built several years back… it is filled with her snowglobe collection… we agreed to keep that for a while until she gets her own place and is more settled.  Currently she is living with friends and finishing her senior year of high school.

The quilt I am working on now for her will NOT be gifted to her until I see her graduate and she knows this… so for now when I finish this quilting adventure… I will sew on the binding and wait to finish and label it until she has met that goal!

I hope I have peaked your interest with this post… and maybe even left you smiling somewhere along the way so I issue this challenge!!!!

BUT… IF YOU STILL NEED A SMILE!!!!

Check out Queen Latifah in “Last Holiday” from 2006… currently on Netflix!

Do you have any heart touching and funny too movies you have watched recently??

Hope you have a blessed Sunday and a great week ahead.  Remember also to…

Hope you had a Safe Labor Day weekend!!

I hope for those in the US… Labor Day weekend was a much needed time to catch up 🙂

I had planned to share this greeting YESTERDAY… but my dd came for a visit and I never got a post written! lol

I have several projects I am working on… but for some reason all my focus has been on Starlight… Starbright… for my daughter’s high school graduation coming in the spring…maybe this is part of my “empty nesting”???  Not sure as I am happy at how she is making her way and she seems happy when we chatted yesterday… and I did work on her quilt over the holiday weekend!!!

Here is a wide shot I took the other day…

And here you can see more progress in a closer up shot! 🙂  …

Soon I will be moving the quilt to get to the carpenter’s star center 🙂

Also over the weekend I spotted a pic on facebook of my 15 month old granddaughter… KAYDENCE!!!!

She is enjoying some ice cream above… but check out the bib she is wearing… I MADE THAT FOR HER!!!  She is getting tubes in her ears mid September her mom says … so hoping that goes quick and easy!!!

So excited to see something I quilted and made for her to use but never received even notification that it was received … IN ACTION!!!!  So that started my weekend off with happy fireworks! lol

Then I ran across this verse and thought enough of it to share with you!!

Thus I quilt to stay happy and out of trouble! Staying warm with them is a wonderful side effect too!

So what all are YOU working on right now to keep you happy and your family warm???

I almost forgot… the fabric aquisition I shared with you last time??  Well I got 2 more 1/4 yards of more in that line… and I love it!! ❤

See the ones on the bottom are the new ones… the ones across the top are from my initial purchase… I will give OddsnEndsFabric.com a HUGE THUMBS UP!!!!  For taking such good care of this fabric and my order!!!  Check them out if you are in the US online 🙂

I hope you take time to leave a comment and share what you are up to!  Not quilting??  Then share another hand sewing knitting crocheting project you are doing and how it makes you feel to make progress on this project 🙂

Until my next post … Please Love One Another folks!

P. S.  Hurricane Hermine gave us only some wind and rain… none at hurricane levels … we live just south of Daytona Beach, Florida on the east coast and this storm made landfall on the west coast and went northeast after that… so we just prayed for those in it’s path…
Thanks to all of you that messaged us to inquire on our safety!  It was MUCH appreciated to know we were in your thoughts and prayers 🙂

Quilty Acquisitions and Progress!!!

Welcome to my blog this Sunday morning!

I am linking this totally quilty post to Kathy’s Slow Sunday Stitching linky HERE!  Come see what other slow stitchers of all types are posting!!!

I have had several quilty acquisitions since I last blogged.. and I am loving being an empty nester… no kids to divert funds to!!! hahaha 🙂

Last week I sold a computer locally .. I had bought it last year for my daughter but she turned her nose up to it and told me finally I should just sell it.. so I did! lol  Turned out the lady who bought it is a QUILTER!!!  She admired my hand quilted wall hangings and the quilt on my frame waiting to be quilted…. then a couple days later I found this lovely Christmas bag filled with Vintage Quilting Goodies!!!

The boxes are heavy duty with vintage Singer sewing machines on them… I love the stripe too!  They are all 3 the same and they nest… it was fun to open them up and keep discovering another round box!!!

Inside each box is a divided top section that is removable and leaves a nice area for a project.

Then there was the sign… all these items quickly found a place in our home…

Above is the Sewing Room sign proudly hanging over the sewing room 🙂  I just love it!!!

And below is 2 of the 3 boxes… they have found a home on the bar.. the smallest one found a place near CJ’s toys so he can figure out how it works! 🙂

Also above, you will notice some other fun items… well the lady who bought the computer and gifted me the items I have shared had a garage sale yesterday… I went and came back with this cool project bag you can see better below…

It is a Laurel Burch if you were unsure.. .it is a DOG print… appropriate with our Daisy always on our minds when we aren’t home! lol  I figure this will be a fun tote for a project like the little angel money holder I plan to make for a Christmas present ….

Or one of the million other ideas I have in my head currently! lol  The above fall fabric is 2 yards !!!  I plan to make placemats out of these!  The other 2 fabrics are fat quarters and I fell in love with both.. all together I spent $10 on these goodies  YIPEEE!!!!

Then I also ordered a fat quarter lot from a range of fabrics called “Button Tree Lane” by Henry Glass…

I especially love all the sayings on the center fabrics… from a distance it looks like whisical colorful paisley… but when you look closely they are all quilty /sewing related wordings in the paisley print!  LOVE!!!

So I am currently feeling very pleased with my acquisitions… I spent just under $30 total on everything and the garage sale will have NEW fabrics being shown next weekend… I was invited back by my new friend before the sale starts to look around :D!  Yippeeee!!!
So as my honey enjoys seeing me happy with these new acquisitions he wonders how I will utilize these new things when I have several projects going already… well I found this quote and I think maybe it will help him understand that for a relatively small amount of outlay in cash I have lots and lots of inspiration and happiness now!

And a growing new friendship to enjoy also!

My main focus in quilting has been hand quilting to finish Starlight … Starbright!

I finished the 7th block….

And turned the quilt to start the 8th block….

And I already am making a good start today on this 8th block!  I hope to be ready to bind this beauty in about a month.. I know it sounds far away.. but this stitching takes time and life isn’t slowing down much lately to give me good quilting time really.

Follow me on facebook if you like to see more frequent progress than I show on my blog… you can find me as “Kathi B. Clower”… my profile pic is a pic of me and this quilt in the background too! lol
To keep things honest please comment here if you plan to friend me there … that way I know there is a connection without having to look at how we know each other! lol

Thanks for stopping in… make sure this happy day to …
