Sew much to share this week y’all!

Welcome All!  Hope you have had as fun a week as we have had here at Daisy Meadows!!!

I saw this wood sticker with this saying on it and isn’t life just like this I thought!!!  I feel like this is me … wandering around life and finally finding the right direction to go in.  Finally!

Last week a sweet lady sent me the complete and uncut pattern for several sizes of raggedy Ann & Andy!  I was thrilled to receive such a sweet offering from one sewist to another !!!
I purchased raggedy fabrics then too!!!  We have some rick rack but needed some inspiration… We is me and Jannessa.. she is a doll maker already and making Raggedy’s is something we think we can rock for our grands to enjoy!!! YAY 😀

I found the PERFECT no bleed pen at my local Dollar General for under $2!  I was so stoked 🙂

So here is all I have gathered from stash and buying for this little bullet journal experiment and can it keep me more organized that I already am and will I use it ???

Remember this sweet pair of stork scissors I shared last week???

Well I commissioned my scissor dangle friend on Etsy to make me a new dangle or fob for these little scissors…

I could not be MORE pleased!!!!  she did an awesome job… Amethysts are special to me anyway and the smooth purple beads are charoite she said & then she threw in some swarovski crystals… delightful!!!!  😀

I saw this panel for sale on a facebook sales page… someone was offering it for sale.  I did research but it was gone by the time I decided it would have been a good deal with the coordinating fabrics added in…

After doing further research this panel is 24 x 36… that is big for a wall hanging… my honey is pure and true a John Deere fan but he doesn’t use blankets and quilts except at bedtime… so I couldn’t make it into anything I can think of besides a wall hanging… we have no real estate in his outdoor spaces for this fabric type item… any ideas ???

Then I saw this cute idea… a large picture frame with chicken wire in it…

 How awesome!!!!!

That got me in a decorating mood…

I updated this photo of me and Connie to the one we took last month… and put it on my collage wall my honey fixed me 🙂

As for the Beads Table Runner placemat …

WE LOVE IT!!!!  Taking almost a week to sew that binding on was ridiculous but worth every minute of work … this one is now OUR FAVORITE!!!

Since I was on sabbatical from hand quilting over the last couple weeks… I decided Ellie needed to get her a Play Quilt… Her parents had asked for one feeling the baby quilt I made her was too precious to be a play quilt I asked last week for some ideas with this fabric bundle…
Here the fat quarter bundle laid out to see…

And here is the lattice quilt design that stole my heart as I was searching for something fun and fast…

I made my squares 8 1/2″ and made my sashings 2″ wide and about 14″ long to be long enough…

I pinned judiciously middle and each end to keep the bias from stretching as I sewed the blocks…

And look how nice!  This technique was seen on the blog I photoed above but I went to the MSQC tutorial for key points on construction of the quilt…

I made mine 6 across and 6 down and bordered with a bit thinner white floater border…

Then I pin basted it to some white polar fleece… it ended up about 53″ square for me before washing!

Then I left Julius my 301 and went to Cleopatra my 319W for machine quilting…

Cleopatra has a nice big harp and made this job fun once the pattern was decided on… thanks Connie!

In just over a day of machine quilting (fast for me!!!) I was making the victory lap of basting around the edges… I wanted to add the binding to the back and wrap to the front and zig zag it onto the front…

And I did it!!!! YAY 😀

Here is Elliana’s Play Quilt in under a week to complete!  It is now boxed up to ship to her parents this week!!!

Here is the label I wrote with a Pentel Gel Fabric Pen I got from Amazon.

Along with my label too ❤

All the while I was quilting we have had quite the weather here in sw North Carolina!  SNOW…

And look at this pic my honey got!!!!

I started the week entering a pic in my journal…

And ended the week with a page in my journal outlining the steps of this quilt project… not all are the same though!  I hope to streamline this process through bullet journaling 🙂

Finally, yesterday afternoon my sabbatical completed and I returned to the quilt frame!!!!

Here is a close up of my stitching in the ditch around each half square triagle down there…

And here is a backed off view.. I plan to finish this block today and move to the last block bottom in this row…. Linking this slow stitching return to Kathy’s Slow Sunday Stitching Link Up HERE <<<  she has some interesting conversation going on over there today!

Are you all my kind of crazy I wonder??? lol

I bet you are if you made it this far in this post 😀

Until next Sunday…

Beads Table Runner is done!!! Happy February Y’all!

Happy February Y’all… and Today is Groundhog Day in the USA… a time when we listen to the wildlife for weather predicting.. lol!
Phil the groundhog did NOT see his shadow…
Which predicts we will experience an early spring…

Do you think this is true???

I just love the Groundhog Day movie with Bill Murray – reliving the day over and over until he get’s it right! lol
As for us in North Carolina… it is a mild winter but we are hoping February brings some sustained chilly weather… we haven’t have SUSTAINED weather that is cold yet this season!!!
This has been a different kind of week for me… hibernating is what I have been doing mainly… and binding a new table runner for our kitchen.  We use it as a double placemat on our bar where we eat dinner each evening…
This table runner is about 18 wide by 60 plus inches long and I worked on binding…

 And worked on binding…

And finally came to the end…

This photo above and below shows the INCREDIBLE free motion quilting my BFF Jannessa did on this table runner.  I am soooo pleased… but hand sewing the binding just seemed to drag for some reason and then one morning I woke and finished it … and labelled it!!! YIPPEE 😀

Then I double washed and rinsed it and dried it nice and wrinkly and laid on our bar and gave us fresh napkins as well!  The Beads Table Runner is now in  use!

Here is a view of the table runner from the side… I am trying here to catch the amazing texture Jannessa’s little meandering stitches and flowers makes on this table runner…. also notice my Spiral Log Cabin wall hanging it coordinates with and the kitchen curtains as well!!!

Here is one last shot to show all the texture happening here… and it will only get better with time!  I love it … and so does my honey!!! He is amazed and said my design mixed with Jannessa’s quilting and my choice on binding seems to make the whole thing just come to life!!!!

I am linking this long bit of hand sewing the binding down to Kathy’s Slow Sunday Stitching HERE… it was a LOOONG week of slow binding and it deserves to be shown off!!!
I got this new pair of SWAN scissors this week in a parcel that came with some attachments for us to sell… YAY!!!

The Silver pair with the scissor fob dangling is for my 301 but the thimble and these brassy colored scissors will be my desk sewing pair now!  I love having these little scissors at each sewing station I have… now with this new addition I have all I need…. except they need a little dangle too! lol

I have not spent much time here this week on the Appalachian Delight Quilt… But today that story will change… I am halfway across the quilt and I am linking this focal point of slow stitching progress to my friends in the HQAL group…
This Hand Quilt Along is an opportunity for hand quilters and piecers to share and motivate one another. We post every three weeks, to show our progress and encourage one another.  If you have a hand quilting project and would like to join our group contact Kathy at the link below.
I will most likely be sitting here as the football game to end the season plays tonite in the USA in Miami..
Who are you rooting for … or will you even watch???

We like watching at interesting match up in sports but we aren’t big sports fanatics… I am going to make Chicken Pot Pie for dinner and enjoy some chip and dip too… but otherwise… I may have to find out which team won in the morning! lol

This cool little sewing machine has 8 spokes and is estimated to be made in 1914… the workmanship on this machine is AMAZING!  It sold in under 2 hours on facebook this week 🙂

Looking for a toddler girl pattern for these fabrics….  Ideas anyone??? Email me a photo of a good larger print quilt idea HERE (if you choose to send me a photo there it will open a link in a new window for you 🙂  )

 And before you go… remember…

So give them freely this week!!!!

Finishes and Progress to Share … YAY!

Welcome y’all!  Thanks for stopping in and thanks for all your uplifting comments to last weeks post 🙂

I did not make this and I do not have this cute little hanger but both are doable… look how the quilter used little clothes pins to hold up this cute patchwork!

But I did make this…

And you will see this photo over at the UFO& WIP link up Julie is doing HERE !!

It was a fairly easy sew.. but I had to prod myself to do it! lol  First I disassembled the old one and used the old padding to determine the size of the top of the ironing board… I laid that out on a big counter with my new fabric washed and ironed and pretty side DOWN with the old batting on top.  Then cut out leaving about 4″ all around 🙂

I replaced the batting and added another layer for a fresh topping on my ironing board because this had just been added a year or so ago and was ok still …

Next I decided this cover would have 1/4″ braided elastic to hold it in place… my last ironing board I had used cording with cord locks… didn’t care for it not staying tight consistently… I LOVE THIS FINISH!!!

I first zig zagged the edges then  pressed them down about 1″ all the way around and went back and straight stitched it down… leaving an opening do deal with the elastic.  You can do this a number of ways actually and I snipped a hole in a zig zagged section I fashioned like a button hole on the back side of mine.

All of this stitching you are doing will be hidden underneath but keeps it washable too !!!

Then get out a nice sized safety pin and guide the elastic around from one side all around til it comes back out the same hole … then pin them together so they won’t go in the hole while you form fit it to your ironing board… knot and trim off the tails and poke the knot inside the hole you used… all done and ready to press your next block or iron some clothes! hahaha   I jest there right??!!!  Actually I do iron a bit of our clothing … but not often! lol  I even made another for a friend for her birthday!!!

Next I will turn this 5 yards of vintage fabric into ironing surface covers…

more on that process next week when I have done it 3 times! lol

Before I even started on the ironing board covers though I I put Cleo my Singer 319W to work sewing on binding to the front of the finished wall hanging I shared a pic of last weekend!

Here you can see how I measure how much tail to leave between my staring point and ending point to have room to make a perfect join….

I open the piece I cut off and use it as a measuring device 😀

Then in no time I had the binding hand stitched down on Monday and my honey with his stronger fingers pushed in the corners to hold in our wall hanging in the tobacco showing basket we found 🙂

This is a big part of southern history and this vintage piece is perfect for it’s center in our bedroom 😀  This is my link up for Julie’s UFO and WIP link up I linked to with the ironing board show off.  You get 2 entries to win something fun!!!

I have been watching my list and marking things off…

While one list is full.. it IS getting marked off little bits at a time.

My hand stitching finish above is also getting linked up with Kathy’s Slow Stitching Sunday… without her link up I wouldn’t have pulled this out and finished it !!!  HERE 🙂  Come see her free form stars she is hand appliqueing on circles and the circles on squares… all very fun looking to me!!!

Also in the hand quilting progress arena is this…

Friday I had over a star’s width to stitch the overall design on… well I buckled down knowing this weekend was coming up quick and stitched and stitched and stitched until…

I was ready to roll!  And roll I did and you can see in the lower of the 2 above photos 🙂

This morning I woke with itching fingers to mark and stitch… so I did…

I use the pink pounce to mark the overall design on the center with my stencil then go over it with the chalk pencil you can see below found on Amazon by Allary company as it is hard to see on it’s own…. Below it is now half marked 🙂

As a note… I did use some of this same pink chalk pencil I have been warned may not come out completely … on the rustic wall hanging border and all came out!!! Now this quilt is holding the chalk longer than that wall hanging did … but I have faith that with soap and warm water and soaking a couple rinses too… I should have a clean and ready to share quilt when done… we shall see!

As you can see also in the photo above… I thought I would have 2 more passes after this one… now I am thinking 1 and a bit more than I can fudge into 1 more pass left so I am now hyper focused to work on this… also

The quilt I have been piecing is now stalled at this point… approx 78″ square!

We have decided… after auditioning SEVERAL borders…
That we need more of this fabric in 1 wide border…

This fabric was used in the cornerstones so it is not foreign to this quilt and it is a civil war blue and wheaty tan color.  Have a few yards laying around by chance?? lol  So it waits and marinates for more sewing to happen to it…

I did get a new scissor fob in the mail from my favorite Etsy fob designer … Lauren of Mountain Laurel Designs HERE 🙂

She made this fob short at my request… everything was just to my liking actually… I ordered from her in the past so she knows my style too… I ❤ it 😀

Here is some eye candy I found on facebook this week too…

And a non traditional take on valentines coming up but I love it!

I also wanted to share a new “personality” I found on YouTube thanks to a friend in my facebook group… HERE is  her take on 3 ways to make the Economy Block… take a watch it will open in a new window so you don’t lose your place here too 😀

Now aren’t you glad you watched some or all of that .. she is sooo entertaining and informational at the same time!!!

My honey is beating the pain he is dealing with by building us a new and built in pantry in our kitchen… our own design and his own knowledge… here are some photos in process…

Still needs the bottom cross members and doors… those may come today or he may rest and watch tv for a bit today 🙂  He has been working on this the last 2 days leaving me to my own devices like stitching!!!

So where ever you are HOT or COLD weather prevails… is there anywhere it is just nice relaxing weather I wonder???  Australia is very very Hot… North of the Equator we are very very cold all compared to regular weather patterns for this time of year so be safe and careful and watch your pets!

Have a blessed one and thanks for visiting and don’t forget to check out ALL the Links I left for you this week as I …
