What’s Up Wednesday!

Hello my bloggy friends…

I just guest posted my quilty endeavors HERE at Celebrate Hand Quilting blog.. please leave me a comment so I know you visited ๐Ÿ™‚

Comments there I check for daily as they don’t come to me… but to the main admin of the blog.

At the moment you can search the blogs recent entries and see how to hand quilt basic supply lists and things to consider when starting hand quilting … check it out!!!ย  I really enjoy guest posting there!

We have really been learning how to live on a specific budget and not beyond it as we had been.ย  It is enlightening how many things are really WANTS and we just see them as needs.ย  Do you feel that way too?

My honey recently got a FREE recliner I shared with you here from our local Craigslist.ย  It had an arm that needed repair but was very comfy and in great shape otherwise… he used it and fixed it and loves it now… so I wanted to sit with him but if I recline… I fall asleep… so I wanted a comfy chair!ย  Look what I finally found on Craigslist!

It is vintage 1940’s we think made by Shaw Walker and once completely rehabbed should be worth about $350!!ย  It is aluminum and hardwood of some sort… I am sure now that the broken part is fixed the rest of the chair will come along … usable now but you will see more transformation in the future on this cute baby!

Now check out what was a junked up and messy craft studio is now a shared space for tv viewing and relaxing in our master suite ๐Ÿ™‚

ย Speaking of deals too… I must share out latest sale on eBay… a PRISTINE Singer Featherweight!ย  It was born January 23, 1950 and comes with an equally PRISTINE case plus accessories including buttonholer!!!ย  If you are in the market for a vintage machine for your collection or to sew on you don’t wanna miss this one… check it out HERE!

Today I think we may be listing some local things on Craigslist to make room in our out building… not sure … but stitching on THE MAN quilt will be my down time activity today for sure!

Don’t forget to check back on this Friday for our LINKY party… a World Wide linky party in conjunction with Wehagodesigns.blogspot.com!ย
I am MONGO excited to see the goals you have met and MORE IMPORTANTLY the ones you set this month and see the results in next months linky!ย ย  Get your Lists ready and grab a button if you like in the sidebar!

It will be truly a Motivation Mayhem Monthly Muster blog PARTY!ย  I call it M4 for short ๐Ÿ™‚

See ya Friday… till then may all your stitches by happy!

Love Slow Stitching on a Sunday :)

Happy Sunday!ย  How do you spend your Sundays ?ย  Me personally… I spend some time with God… reflect on the week behind… look upon the week ahead…ย  and SLOW STITCH!

Friday I finally finished the 16th block of the quilt and along with all the feathers and yin yangs I have stitched was able to celebrate 2/3 done on this hand quilting work of art ๐Ÿ™‚

Here is the 16th block…

And here is the 17th block marked and just started this morning ๐Ÿ™‚

ย I am marking this project in the blocks with a “pounce pad” which I am learning to like but it is very different way of marking… works well on mixed darks and mediums like these blocks are though ๐Ÿ™‚ย  And easy to get rid of… DEF not permanent! lol

Have you seen the ad on pinterest and facebook on how to make a swan out of a couple apples??? well my daughter tried it and look how great it turned out!

My honey has been really working hard on stripping, staining and varnishing the Martha Washington cabinet I shared with you earlier this week… it is the cabinet for my new to me 1928 White Rotary electric machine ๐Ÿ™‚ย  She is out of her cabinet during the reno but she sews sooo nice… and I already have an upcoming project I plan to use her for too… she is yet unnamed ๐Ÿ™‚

Stripped and stained already but yet to be varnished… we are using a matte finish for her and that is currently in process… above Daisy had to get in the shot… and below is a better shot of JUST the Martha Washington cabinet ๐Ÿ™‚

Isn’t it lovely already???ย  I am sooo excited to sew on her and to get her named! lol

Do you name your sewing machines??? I never had one with a named cabinet before but it relates to the style of the cabinet… and when I show her off she even has it engraved on brass in the right side cabinet door!

More excitement… even though payday is close and fund are tight… we found this on our local Craigslist for $30!!ย  It is a vanity and will go in our main bath…

ย The cabinet needs some work but my honey is really enjoying refinishing furniture and this piece is sooo HEAVY!ย  We used a dolly and my honey and the guy we bought it from loaded it… it looked easy so as I went to help unload…ย  my honey laughed at my attempt to help!ย  The dolly was more helpful I think! lolย  Anyway close up of some of the wear on this piece that will have to be fixed before we make room for it in the bathroom…

I love the curves and the carvings… I had wanted something dark wood, with feet and a vanilla top… this has it all and for $30! WOW!ย  The top needs some attention too but my honey is already researching that… for now it will stay in the garage out of the weather ๐Ÿ™‚

Do you slow stitch and wonder how to keep that thread dust free while stitching??? Does that happen to you?ย  I found a drop of something on my spool so I came up with a way to keep it fresh and clean during the long slow stitching process on larger quilts … check it out at Celebrate Hand Quilting blog here ๐Ÿ™‚

Hope your Sunday is a happy one!

Linking this post to Kathy’s Slow Stitching Sunday ~ and I don’t use frixion pen at this time so no review to add to her post ๐Ÿ™‚

Merrily I Sew Along… Sew Along… Sew Along :)

Thinking this to Mary Had a Little Lamb beat! lol

I am currently still traveling uphill on this quilt for my honey.ย  But I am like the little engine that could and progress is happening faster than I anticipated when starting this project!

Many quilters keep multiple projects going to avoid boredom with one project… I just can’t do that very well.. so full steam ahead on this project… I am now about 65% done on the feathers and 16% done on the blocks of this quilt and I am loving it….

Currently… I am back to stitching a couple feathers so I can quilt larger segments to take pics of on a weekly basis to remember the progress I am actually making..

With a large project you have to pace yourself as it doesn’t get done overnight.. I gave myself 4 months in which to hand quilt this queen sized throw and I am well about 1/3 done with the whole quilt now… so I think I am well ahead of an April finish… but time will tell.

Life happens and things keep me from quilting… my daughter needs to eat every night (haha) and the house has to be straightened (LOL)… my honey helps out a lot and I am lucky to have so much time to devote to things I enjoy like hand quilting.

Hope you enjoyed my article for new hand quilters.. would love your feedback!!ย  I hope you will share what works for YOU to make it through the middle of a large hand quilting project!

Happy Stitching ๐Ÿ™‚

Making progress on THE MAN quilt :)

Learning to mark these busy blocks has been a hurdle… to be nice ๐Ÿ™‚

See how I did it on my guest blog post at Celebrate Hand Quilting blog here!

and… Evie got to go home yesterday!ย  Yipee!!!!ย  She is recovering well from her surgery ๐Ÿ™‚ย  See how happy she is here that she got to leave the hospital pretty and pink! lol

My honey is still creating in the wood shop… we shall see what ideas come forth!

Have a blessed rest of your week… as for me… I am quilting! lol
